Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers career opportunities in logistics, shared services, finance, technology, manufacturing, tourism and customer operations. Kuala Lumpur and Selangor are the main employment hubs, while Penang and Johor also have strong industrial and logistics markets. The country’s culture combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with excellent food, festivals and generally welcoming communities. Urban life is convenient and relatively affordable, though traffic and humidity can be challenging. Beaches and islands such as Langkawi, Tioman and Perhentian provide easy weekend escapes. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the hiring company must meet immigration requirements before relocation. Candidates should budget for housing deposits, insurance, transport and dependent arrangements. English is widely used in business, although Malay is the national language and local language skills can improve integration.
