The Lead Counsel – Country – Vice President provides senior legal advice to Citi’s Singapore businesses and country management. The role typically requires a law degree, admission to practice in Singapore or another recognized jurisdiction, and substantial experience in banking, financial services, corporate law, regulatory matters, and risk management. Strong knowledge of Singapore’s financial regulations, including MAS requirements, is highly valuable. The successful candidate will advise on transactions, products, contracts, licensing, governance, investigations, and regulatory developments; identify and manage legal risk; and work closely with compliance, risk, operations, and business leaders. Excellent judgment, communication, negotiation, stakeholder-management, and leadership skills are expected, together with the ability to handle confidential, complex, and time-sensitive matters in a multinational environment.
Citi is a major global financial institution providing banking, capital markets, securities, treasury, wealth management, and consumer financial services. Headquartered in New York, the company operates in many countries and serves corporations, governments, institutional investors, and individuals. Singapore is one of Citi’s important Asia-Pacific hubs, supporting regional banking, markets, technology, operations, and risk-management activities. The organization is known for its international network, complex financial products, and strong focus on regulatory controls and responsible business practices. Employees typically work in multicultural teams and collaborate across countries and functions. Citi offers opportunities in legal, compliance, finance, technology, operations, banking, and client coverage. As with other large financial institutions, roles generally involve structured governance, demanding workloads, ongoing professional development, and close attention to ethics, confidentiality, cybersecurity, and regulatory requirements.
Singapore is a compact, well-connected island city with strong opportunities in banking, technology, logistics, healthcare, consulting, and regional headquarters roles. Its finance sector is especially active, with jobs available at global banks, asset managers, fintech companies, and professional-services firms. The culture is multicultural, efficient, and generally professional, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle options range from modern apartments, shopping, restaurants, and nightlife to parks, beaches, museums, and easy trips around Southeast Asia. Housing and international-school costs can be high, although public transport is excellent and healthcare is well regarded. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience, and government assessment. Employers commonly assist with applications and relocation, but candidates should budget for deposits, furnishing, insurance, and living expenses. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain, so suitable clothing and adaptation are important.
