About the employer

Citi is a leading global financial institution providing banking, capital markets, investment, wealth management and transaction services to individuals, businesses, governments and institutional clients. Headquartered in New York, the bank operates across major financial centers worldwide, including Hong Kong. Citi’s Investment Banking business advises companies, financial institutions and public-sector clients on mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financing, strategic transactions and capital raising. The organization serves a broad international client base and is known for its global network, complex cross-border capabilities and large-scale financial infrastructure. Employees typically work in a structured, highly regulated and performance-oriented environment, collaborating across business lines, countries and time zones. In Hong Kong, Citi supports the region’s corporate, institutional and investment banking activities and offers opportunities in both client-facing and professional support functions.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in investment banking, commercial banking, fintech, technology, accounting, compliance, asset management and professional services. The city has a fast-paced, international work culture that values efficiency, long hours in some finance roles, hierarchy and relationship building. Lifestyle options range from dense urban districts and excellent restaurants to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Public transport is efficient, and most professionals live in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon or the New Territories. Foreign employees generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer; applicants must normally show relevant qualifications, experience and a confirmed job offer. Dependants may usually apply for accompanying visas and can often work. Relocation costs and housing are significant, so candidates should confirm benefits, medical coverage, tax treatment and bonus structure. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in international workplaces.
