Taiwan offers opportunities in banking, technology, electronics, manufacturing, trade, logistics, healthcare, education, and customer service. Taipei has the largest concentration of international employers, while Taichung, Tainan, and Kaohsiung provide roles in manufacturing, technology, and regional services. Workplace culture is generally respectful, collaborative, and hierarchical, with strong emphasis on reliability and relationship building. Daily life is convenient, with excellent public transportation, affordable food, vibrant night markets, mountains, beaches, and a high level of personal safety. Mandarin is important for many positions, although multinational companies often use English. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work permit and an appropriate resident visa; highly qualified applicants may qualify for an Employment Gold Card. Before relocating, arrange health insurance, housing, tax registration, and document authentication. Taipei rents and living costs are higher than elsewhere, but public transport and healthcare remain relatively affordable.
