Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island country, although Dubai includes destinations such as Bluewaters Island, Palm Jumeirah and The World Islands. Hospitality offers many opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, beach clubs, events, tourism and luxury retail, especially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. UAE workplaces are international, service-focused and culturally diverse. Islamic traditions are important, so modest public behavior, respect for Ramadan and awareness of local customs are essential. Dubai provides a modern lifestyle with beaches, shopping, dining, entertainment and excellent transport, but accommodation and schooling can be expensive. Most overseas employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas; the employer normally arranges the permit, medical examination and Emirates ID process. Candidates should confirm benefits such as accommodation, transport, insurance, flights and gratuity before accepting an offer. Heat, humidity and outdoor working conditions can be demanding, particularly during summer.
