Working in Indonesia

Bali is Indonesia’s best-known tourism island and offers strong opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, wellness, travel services and water sports. Tanjung Benoa is a resort area with a relaxed coastal lifestyle, while nearby Nusa Dua, Jimbaran and Kuta provide additional employment options. Balinese culture is strongly shaped by Hindu traditions, ceremonies, family communities and religious offerings, and respectful dress and behavior are important. Daily life combines tropical weather, beaches, traffic and a busy tourism economy; housing, transport and international schooling can be more expensive in popular areas. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship and the appropriate work and stay permits, such as a limited-stay permit, before beginning employment. Candidates should confirm visa costs, medical checks, accommodation, insurance, taxation and relocation support directly with the employer. Bahasa Indonesia is useful, while English is widely used in resorts.
