Working in Bermuda

Bermuda offers employment opportunities in tourism, hospitality, finance, healthcare, construction, education, and professional services. The island has a distinctive British-influenced culture, colorful architecture, strong community traditions, and a relaxed but professional lifestyle. Residents enjoy beaches, boating, snorkeling, golf, outdoor activities, and a mild subtropical climate. Living costs are high, particularly for accommodation, groceries, transportation, and utilities, so salary and employer benefits should be considered carefully. Bermuda generally restricts employment to Bermudians and approved international workers, meaning overseas candidates normally need an employer-sponsored work permit before starting work. Employers may provide guidance on permits, accommodation, health insurance, flights, or relocation, but these benefits vary by contract. New arrivals should confirm permit duration, housing arrangements, tax treatment, and medical coverage. Public transportation is reliable, while private cars are limited and expensive; scooters are commonly used, subject to local rules.
