Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is a highly international country with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, retail, aviation, construction, technology and finance. Dubai offers a fast-paced lifestyle, modern infrastructure, beaches, shopping, dining and a large expatriate community. Emirati culture values hospitality, family, modesty and respect for Islamic traditions; English is widely used at work. Most overseas employees need an employer-sponsored residence visa and work permit, with the employer normally arranging the process after hiring. A passport, medical examination and document attestation may be required. Relocation costs, accommodation, transport, meals, health insurance, annual leave and flights vary by contract. The UAE has hot summers, relatively high living costs and no personal income tax on employment salaries, but housing can be expensive. New arrivals should carefully review the written employment offer and visa conditions before moving.
