Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Abu Dhabi offering strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, finance, construction and events. The culture combines Islamic traditions, Emirati customs and a highly international expatriate community. Arabic and English are widely used in business. Abu Dhabi provides a modern, safe lifestyle with beaches, shopping malls, restaurants, cultural attractions and desert activities, although summers are extremely hot. Employers normally arrange an employment entry permit and residence visa, followed by medical checks and an Emirates ID; employees should confirm sponsorship, health insurance, accommodation or housing allowance and annual flights before relocating. Costs vary considerably, especially for housing. Respectful dress and behaviour are expected in public and workplaces, particularly during Ramadan. A valid passport, authenticated qualifications and a signed employment contract are commonly required for relocation.
