The Demi Chef supports the kitchen team with food preparation, cooking, plating and service across the hotel’s food and beverage operations. Candidates should have commercial kitchen experience, sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards, and preferably a relevant culinary qualification or apprenticeship. The role requires good knife skills, organisation, reliability and the ability to follow recipes and portion controls. The successful candidate is expected to work efficiently during busy service periods, maintain clean and safe work areas, minimise waste, communicate well with colleagues and follow Accor standards. Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays is normally required.
Accor is a major international hospitality group operating hotels, resorts and lifestyle properties across the world. Its portfolio includes well-known brands such as ibis, Novotel, Mercure, Sofitel, Pullman and Fairmont, covering economy through luxury accommodation. ibis Perth is a centrally located hotel serving business and leisure guests, with accommodation, dining and event facilities. Accor places strong emphasis on guest service, teamwork, operational standards and employee development. Team members may access training, career progression opportunities, staff accommodation or travel benefits depending on the property and employment conditions. In Australia, hotel roles are generally governed by workplace legislation, enterprise agreements or applicable hospitality awards. As a Demi Chef at ibis Perth, the employee would work within a multicultural kitchen team and contribute to consistent, safe and well-presented meals for hotel guests and functions.
Australia offers hospitality opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, cafés and catering companies, especially in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and regional tourism areas. The culture is generally informal, direct and multicultural, with strong expectations around punctuality, workplace safety and fair treatment. Lifestyle varies from city living and beaches to outdoor activities, sport and regional travel; Perth is known for sunshine, coastal scenery and a relaxed pace. Eligible applicants may use working holiday, employer-sponsored, skilled or student visas, depending on nationality, qualifications and occupation requirements. A valid work visa is essential, and employers may require tax, superannuation and right-to-work documentation. Relocating involves budgeting for flights, accommodation, transport, health insurance and initial living costs. Perth can be more affordable than Sydney or Melbourne, though rents have increased. Culinary qualifications, English ability and commercial kitchen experience improve employment prospects.
