Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest concentration of technology, aviation, finance and professional-services jobs. The country has a highly international culture, modern infrastructure, excellent restaurants and shopping, and extensive desert, beach and mountain attractions. Life is convenient and generally safe, though accommodation, schooling and leisure can be expensive. English is widely used in workplaces, while Arabic is the official language; local customs and religious practices should be respected. Most overseas employees need employer-sponsored residence and work visas, usually arranged after an employment offer. Relocating commonly involves document attestation, medical checks, Emirates ID registration and arranging housing and banking. Dubai has strong public transport, while driving is often useful elsewhere. Climate is hot and humid in summer, with milder winters.
