Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest range of professional opportunities. Aviation, tourism, logistics, finance, technology, retail and marketing are major employment sectors. The culture combines Islamic traditions, hospitality and a highly international lifestyle; respectful dress and behaviour are expected, especially in formal or religious settings. Life is modern and convenient, with excellent transport, restaurants, beaches, shopping and entertainment, although summer heat is intense and housing can be expensive. Most overseas employees need an employer-sponsored residence visa, normally arranged after receiving a job offer; medical checks and identity registration are usually required. Employers may also assist with flights, accommodation or relocation. Candidates should verify contract benefits, probation terms, schooling, insurance and housing costs before moving.
