Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest concentration of aviation and engineering jobs. Opportunities are available with airlines, airports, aircraft maintenance companies, logistics firms, tourism businesses and government organisations. UAE culture combines Emirati traditions, Islamic values and a highly international population; respectful dress and behaviour are expected. Dubai offers modern housing, shopping, restaurants, beaches and an active social life, while summers are extremely hot and humid. Employment visas are normally sponsored by the employer, who typically arranges entry permits, medical checks and residency processing. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, transport, insurance and schooling if relocating with family. Public transport is strong in Dubai, although many workers use cars. Applicants should verify contract terms, benefits, licensing requirements and accommodation arrangements before accepting an offer.
