The Events Manager is responsible for planning, selling, coordinating and delivering conferences, weddings, meetings and other functions. Requirements typically include a hospitality, events or business-related qualification, several years of hotel or event-management experience, strong communication and negotiation skills, and excellent knowledge of event planning, budgeting and guest service. The successful candidate is expected to manage client relationships, prepare proposals and contracts, coordinate with food and beverage, banquet and operational teams, monitor event budgets, resolve issues quickly and ensure every function meets Shangri-La’s service standards. Flexibility, attention to detail, commercial awareness and the ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays are essential.
Shangri-La is a major luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its properties are known for high-quality accommodation, restaurants, banqueting, meetings, wellness facilities and warm, personalized service. In the Philippines, Shangri-La operates prominent properties including Shangri-La The Fort, Manila, Edsa Shangri-La, Manila, and Shangri-La Mactan, Cebu Resort & Spa. The group places strong emphasis on guest satisfaction, colleague development, cultural sensitivity and responsible business practices. An Events Manager can expect to work closely with sales, banquet, culinary, rooms and senior hotel teams while serving corporate, social and destination-event clients. Compensation and benefits may vary by property, experience and the overall event-sales structure.
The Philippines offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, tourism, diving, wellness and customer service, particularly in Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Bohol and Davao. Workplaces are generally welcoming and relationship-focused, with English widely used in business and hospitality. Filipino culture values courtesy, teamwork, family, community and celebrations, while local cuisine, music and festivals are central to daily life. Island living can provide beaches, warm weather and a relaxed lifestyle, although transport, internet access, healthcare and living costs vary considerably by location. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa, commonly arranged with support from the hiring company; working while on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, meals, transportation, insurance, tax obligations and relocation assistance before accepting an offer. Domestic flights and ferries connect major islands, but travel can be affected by weather.
