Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, and other resort destinations. Jobs are available in hotels, restaurants, resorts, events, tourism, and supporting corporate functions. The culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences, with excellent food, festivals, and generally welcoming communities. Lifestyle varies from busy city living to relaxed island life; costs are moderate, although central Kuala Lumpur and popular resort areas can be more expensive. Langkawi, Penang, and islands off Sabah and Terengganu are popular for beaches, diving, nature, and outdoor activities. Foreign employees normally need an employment pass or another approved work permit, usually arranged and sponsored by the employer before starting work. Requirements depend on nationality, salary, qualifications, and the role. New arrivals should confirm accommodation, medical cover, transport, tax obligations, and contract terms with the employer.
