Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and known for high-quality service, elegant properties and strong Asian hospitality values. The group operates hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Shangri-La properties typically offer restaurants, lounges, meeting facilities, wellness services and extensive guest amenities. The company places considerable emphasis on personalized service, employee development, cultural awareness and operational excellence. In Indonesia, Shangri-La has been associated with premium city and resort hospitality, serving business travelers, families, tourists and events. Working for the group can provide exposure to international standards, diverse guests and structured hotel operations, although the role may involve long hours, weekends, public holidays and active floor management during busy service periods.
Indonesia offers opportunities across hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, wellness and events, particularly in Bali, Jakarta, Surabaya, Lombok and Batam. Bali is the most internationally oriented island, with a relaxed lifestyle, strong expatriate communities and extensive hospitality employment, while Jakarta provides a faster-paced corporate environment. Indonesian culture values courtesy, family, community and respectful communication. Living costs vary greatly; Bali tourist areas can be expensive, whereas local neighborhoods and cities may be more affordable. Employers commonly assist with accommodation, meals, transport or service charge, but this should be confirmed before accepting an offer. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and limited-stay visa; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should verify current immigration rules, arrange health insurance and research housing, transport, taxes and local workplace customs before relocating.
