Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers varied island lifestyles and hospitality opportunities. Langkawi is a popular resort destination with jobs in hotels, events, food and beverage, watersports and tourism; Penang combines heritage culture, excellent food and urban conveniences; Sabah’s islands and coastal resorts provide opportunities in diving, recreation and luxury hospitality. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in hotels. Living costs are generally moderate, though resort islands may have higher rents and fewer services. Foreign employees normally require an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and approval must be arranged before starting work. Candidates should confirm accommodation, transport, medical coverage, visa sponsorship and relocation support. Flights, weather, language expectations and access to major cities should also be considered when choosing an island posting.
