The Assistant Restaurant Manager supports the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, service standards, guest satisfaction, team performance and financial results. Candidates typically need several years of experience in an upscale hotel or restaurant, strong knowledge of food and beverage service, and excellent communication and leadership skills. The role requires confidence in handling guest concerns, staff scheduling, training, inventory control and operational procedures. The successful candidate is expected to be hands-on, organised, commercially aware and comfortable working shifts, weekends and public holidays. Experience with international luxury hospitality standards and knowledge of hygiene and safety requirements would be an advantage.
Shangri-La Group is a leading luxury hospitality company with hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations. Founded in Singapore, the group is recognised for warm Asian hospitality, personalised service and high standards in accommodation, dining, wellness and events. Shangri-La properties generally serve leisure travellers, business guests and luxury clientele, with a strong focus on guest experience and employee development. In the United Arab Emirates, the company operates high-end hospitality properties and provides opportunities across food and beverage, rooms, culinary, engineering, sales and corporate functions. Employees can expect a multicultural working environment, structured operating procedures and exposure to international hotel standards.
The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with extensive coastlines, beaches and island developments. Hospitality creates many opportunities in hotels, restaurants, resorts, events, tourism and luxury retail, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a highly international population; respectful dress, punctuality and awareness of Islamic customs are important. Lifestyle options range from beaches, desert excursions and shopping to dining, fitness and nightlife. Most overseas employees need employer-sponsored residence and work visas, with the company commonly arranging medical testing, Emirates ID and related permits. Employers may also provide accommodation or an allowance, transport, insurance and flights. Living costs can be high, especially in Dubai, so applicants should compare the full benefits package, working hours and accommodation arrangements before relocating.
