About the employer

Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and recognized for Asian-inspired service, elegant accommodation and strong attention to guest care. The group operates hotels, resorts and related hospitality businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its properties commonly combine rooms and suites with restaurants, meeting facilities, wellness services and extensive business or leisure amenities. Shangri-La places emphasis on genuine hospitality, operational quality, employee development and creating memorable experiences for guests. A security leadership role within the company involves more than loss prevention: it supports guest confidence, business continuity, emergency preparedness and the safe operation of a high-end hotel. Exact duties, benefits and reporting lines vary by property, so candidates should confirm the specific Hong Kong hotel and employment package during the recruitment process.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers employment opportunities in hotels, finance, retail, aviation, technology, logistics, healthcare and professional services. Its culture blends Cantonese and wider Chinese traditions with international influences, and English is widely used in business and hospitality. Life is fast-paced, highly connected and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse dining, shopping, hiking trails and beaches. Housing is expensive, especially on Hong Kong Island and in central districts, so many employees live in Kowloon or the New Territories. Overseas hires generally need an appropriate employment visa, normally sponsored by the employer, with proof of qualifications, relevant experience and a genuine job offer; requirements can change and should be checked with Hong Kong Immigration. Relocation planning should include accommodation, insurance, tax, banking and transport. Employers may offer meals, uniforms, medical cover, staff accommodation or service charges, but benefits differ by property and contract.
