The Demi Chef – Bakery (Overnight) supports the pastry and bakery team in preparing breads, pastries, cakes and other baked products during overnight shifts. Candidates should have culinary or bakery training, relevant hotel or pastry kitchen experience, knowledge of baking methods, food safety and hygiene standards, and the ability to follow recipes accurately. The role requires stamina, attention to detail, creativity, teamwork and willingness to work overnight, weekends and public holidays. The successful candidate is expected to maintain a clean and organised workstation, control ingredient quality and portioning, meet production schedules and support Shangri-La’s standards for consistency and presentation.
Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and known for its hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations. The group operates under a strong service culture focused on warm hospitality, quality guest experiences and attention to detail. Its properties typically offer accommodation, restaurants, lounges, banqueting, wellness facilities and business services. Shangri-La is also recognised for investing in employee development, multicultural teamwork and career opportunities across its global portfolio. The company’s Hong Kong operations include established luxury hotels serving leisure travellers, business guests and local residents. Employees are generally expected to demonstrate professionalism, care, reliability and a commitment to high operational and food-safety standards.
Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, catering, retail, finance, technology and international business. Although commonly described as an island destination, the territory includes Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, with excellent public transport linking major areas. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences, and English is widely used in business and hospitality. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent food, shopping, hiking, beaches and a vibrant nightlife, though housing and daily expenses can be high. Overseas employees normally need an employment visa sponsored by an eligible employer; the company generally supports the application after making a formal offer. Candidates should prepare qualifications, employment records, passport documents and proof of relevant experience. Staff accommodation is not guaranteed, so relocation planning and budgeting are important.
