Typical duties include supervising security officers, monitoring CCTV and access points, conducting patrols, responding to incidents, preparing reports, supporting emergency procedures and coordinating with police or other authorities when required. Candidates should have relevant hotel, commercial or security experience, good knowledge of safety and emergency procedures, and strong communication and leadership skills. A Hong Kong security personnel permit or the ability to obtain the required licence is generally expected. Fluency in Cantonese and English is highly advantageous. The successful candidate should be observant, physically fit, calm under pressure, service-minded, trustworthy and willing to work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays.
Shangri-La is a globally recognised luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and known for its welcoming Asian hospitality. The group operates luxury hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its properties typically provide accommodation, dining, conference, wellness and leisure services, with a strong focus on personalised guest experiences and high operating standards. Shangri-La hotels are also known for employee development, multicultural workplaces and service values centred on respect, humility and care. In Hong Kong, the group has established luxury properties serving business travellers, leisure guests, events and long-stay residents. Employees generally work in a structured hotel environment where teamwork, appearance, discretion, safety awareness and consistent service are important. Benefits may include staff meals, uniforms, medical coverage, training and hotel stay discounts, depending on the property and employment terms.
Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, finance, retail, logistics, technology and professional services. Hospitality jobs are concentrated on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and Lantau, with many international hotels offering shift-based roles and career progression. The culture is fast-paced, efficient and multicultural; Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and luxury hospitality. Lifestyle options range from dense urban neighbourhoods, restaurants and nightlife to hiking trails, beaches and outlying islands. Public transport is extensive and reliable, although accommodation can be expensive, particularly in central areas. Most overseas employees need an employment visa sponsored by the employer, and applicants must normally demonstrate relevant qualifications, experience and a genuine job offer. Employers usually assist with the application. New arrivals should arrange housing, insurance, banking and an identification card after approval. Rules can change, so immigration requirements should be checked with Hong Kong authorities.
