The Corporate Social Sustainability (CSR) Executive supports Shangri-La’s environmental, social and community initiatives in Malaysia. Requirements typically include a degree or diploma in sustainability, corporate communications, business, hospitality or a related field, along with experience coordinating CSR, ESG, community outreach or hotel sustainability programmes. Strong communication, project coordination, reporting and stakeholder-management skills are expected. The candidate should be organised, proactive and comfortable working with hotel departments, local communities, suppliers, non-governmental organisations and corporate partners. Familiarity with sustainability reporting, waste reduction, energy conservation and social-impact activities is advantageous. The role may also involve preparing presentations, tracking programme results, organising employee volunteering and promoting responsible business practices.
Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and other hospitality businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America. The company is recognised for its Asian-inspired service culture, upscale accommodation, restaurants, wellness facilities and resort experiences. Its properties serve leisure travellers, business guests, events and long-stay customers. Shangri-La places emphasis on personalised service, colleague development, responsible operations and community engagement. In Malaysia, the group has established hotel and resort operations serving both domestic and international visitors. A CSR and sustainability role may support the company’s efforts in environmental stewardship, local community partnerships, employee participation, responsible sourcing and social-impact programmes while helping individual properties meet corporate sustainability objectives.
Malaysia offers career opportunities in hospitality, sustainability, tourism, business services, technology and retail, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and major resort areas. Its culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, with strong traditions of family, food, festivals and religious diversity. Island living in Langkawi, Penang or Sabah can provide a relaxed lifestyle, beaches and outdoor activities, although transport, housing and imported goods may cost more than on the mainland. Malaysia has tropical weather, generally warm and humid year-round. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval and immigration processing handled by the hiring company. Candidates should confirm contract terms, accommodation, medical coverage, taxation and relocation support before accepting an offer. English is widely used in business, while Malay is the national language.
