Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers varied hospitality opportunities across Java, Bali, Lombok, Batam, and other islands. Bali has the largest concentration of resort, restaurant, wellness, and tourism jobs, while Jakarta and Java provide more corporate and city-hotel positions. Lombok and Batam are growing resort and leisure markets. Local culture values politeness, community, modesty, and respect for religious traditions; English is useful in international hotels, while Indonesian helps with daily life. Costs are generally higher in Bali’s tourist areas than in many parts of Java. Foreign employees normally need employer sponsorship and an appropriate work visa or stay permit, and should not work on a tourist visa. Employers commonly assist with immigration, contracts, accommodation, and relocation, but candidates should confirm taxes, service charge, housing, medical cover, and flight arrangements before accepting an offer.
