Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected city with major opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, retail, professional services, and regional corporate functions. Its culture combines Cantonese traditions, international business influences, excellent dining, festivals, and a fast-paced working environment. Although best known for its urban skyline, Hong Kong also offers beaches, hiking trails, outlying islands, and country parks. Public transport is efficient, and most professionals live in apartments close to MTR stations. For employment, most overseas hires require an employment visa sponsored by the company; applications usually require a confirmed job, relevant qualifications or experience, and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Dependants may generally accompany approved visa holders. Relocation costs, housing deposits, healthcare, taxation, and schooling should be reviewed carefully before accepting a contract.
