The Assistant Restaurant Manager supports the Restaurant Manager with daily operations, guest satisfaction, staff supervision, service standards, and revenue performance. Candidates typically need a hospitality or hotel management qualification and several years of experience in a quality restaurant, preferably within a luxury hotel or international brand. Strong knowledge of food and beverage service, team leadership, guest recovery, inventory control, and health and safety procedures is expected. Excellent English communication, a professional appearance, flexibility with shifts, and the ability to work under pressure are essential. Knowledge of additional languages and experience in the UAE or GCC would be advantageous.
Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a leading luxury hospitality group originating in Hong Kong, with hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The company is recognised for personalised Asian hospitality, high service standards and distinctive luxury properties. Its UAE operations include prominent hotels and resorts serving business travellers, leisure guests, families and major events. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on guest experience, employee development, cultural awareness and operational excellence. Restaurant management roles typically involve working within a multicultural team and maintaining consistent service, food quality, presentation and commercial performance. Benefits and employment conditions vary by property, but UAE positions commonly include accommodation or a housing allowance, transport, meals, medical coverage and annual leave travel benefits.
The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with extensive coastlines and popular resort destinations. Hospitality provides many opportunities in hotels, restaurants, resorts, catering, events and tourism, especially for experienced international candidates. The culture is multicultural, respectful and influenced by Islamic traditions; modest dress and awareness during Ramadan are important. Lifestyle ranges from busy city living and shopping to beaches, desert activities and a strong expatriate community. Most foreign employees need employer-sponsored residence and work visas, with the employer usually arranging permits, medical checks and an Emirates ID. Before relocating, confirm accommodation, transport, insurance, working hours, probation terms and gratuity in the contract. Costs can be high in Dubai, so benefits and housing support should be assessed carefully.
