Shangri-La is a leading luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong, with hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The company is known for refined service, comfortable accommodation, premium dining, wellness facilities and distinctive guest experiences. Shangri-La properties serve leisure travellers, business guests, conferences and social events, creating opportunities across hotel operations, engineering, food and beverage, finance and guest services. In the United Arab Emirates, the group operates luxury properties in destinations such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Employees are generally expected to demonstrate warm hospitality, professionalism, teamwork and respect for different cultures. Benefits and employment conditions vary by property, position and experience, but international hotel roles commonly include staff accommodation or an allowance, meals, transportation, medical coverage and annual leave.
The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but its coastal cities and resort destinations offer a lifestyle that can feel strongly connected to the sea. Dubai and Abu Dhabi provide many hospitality, events, engineering and audiovisual opportunities, particularly in luxury hotels, convention venues and entertainment businesses. The culture combines Emirati traditions with a large international community; modest dress and respectful behaviour are appreciated, especially during Ramadan. Lifestyle options include beaches, shopping, desert trips, water sports and extensive dining, while summers are extremely hot and humid. Most overseas employees require an employer-sponsored residence visa and work permit. Employers commonly arrange medical testing, Emirates ID processing and sometimes accommodation or transport. Candidates should verify the written offer, benefits, probation terms and recruitment fees before relocating. English is widely used in hotels, while Arabic is an advantage. Public transport is strong in major cities, though costs vary considerably by area and housing choice.
