About the employer

Shangri-La Group is a leading luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong and known for its hotels, resorts, residences, and distinctive Asian-inspired service. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets under brands including Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, JEN, and Traders. Shangri-La Hong Kong is a landmark luxury hotel in the city’s Admiralty district, offering accommodation, extensive dining, meeting facilities, and wellness services. Ming Pavilion is associated with the hotel’s premium Chinese dining operation and serves a sophisticated clientele. The company places strong emphasis on genuine hospitality, culinary quality, service excellence, colleague development, and responsible business practices. Benefits for eligible employees may include meals, medical coverage, staff rates, training, and opportunities for international career mobility, although the precise package depends on the position and employment terms.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, fine dining, catering, tourism, finance, retail, and international business. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences; respect, efficiency, family values, and excellent food are central to daily life. The lifestyle is energetic and convenient, with outstanding public transport, dense urban neighborhoods, hiking trails, beaches, and a wide range of restaurants. Housing can be expensive, especially near Central, Admiralty, and popular expatriate areas, so many residents live in Kowloon or the New Territories. Foreign professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer, with approval based on qualifications, a genuine vacancy, and market-standard pay. Applicants should confirm visa arrangements, medical requirements, accommodation support, working hours, and gratuity before accepting an offer. Cantonese is valuable for hospitality roles, although English is widely used in international hotels.
