Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, restaurants, tourism, finance, retail, logistics, technology and professional services. The culture blends Cantonese traditions, international influences, efficient business practices and a fast-paced urban lifestyle. Residents enjoy excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking trails, beaches and a vibrant arts and nightlife scene, although housing can be expensive and space is limited. Salaries are normally quoted monthly in Hong Kong dollars, with employment benefits varying by company. Overseas professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer, and the role must meet immigration requirements regarding qualifications, experience and remuneration. New arrivals should arrange suitable accommodation, health coverage and a Hong Kong bank account. Cantonese is valuable for security and guest-facing positions, while English is widely used in hotels and international workplaces.
