Working in Mauritius

Mauritius offers opportunities in luxury hotels, tourism, restaurants, finance, technology, education, healthcare and business services. Resort jobs are particularly common on the coast and often suit candidates with hospitality, languages, sales or guest-service experience. Mauritian culture blends African, Indian, Chinese, French and British influences, reflected in its food, festivals, music and languages; English is official, while French and Mauritian Creole are widely used. The lifestyle is relaxed, with beaches, hiking, water sports and a warm climate, although traffic and housing costs can be challenging near major employment areas. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate work permit or occupation permit arranged with employer support before working. Candidates should confirm visa rules, salary, accommodation, transport, insurance and contract terms before relocating. International schools and private healthcare are available, but costs vary considerably.
