Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers resort and hospitality opportunities on islands and coastal destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Pangkor, Tioman and parts of Sabah. Jobs are commonly available in hotels, spas, restaurants, diving centres, guest services and tourism operations, with stronger hiring during peak travel seasons. The culture is multicultural, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions, and English is widely used in tourism. Island life is generally relaxed, warm and outdoor-focused, with beaches, forests, water sports and local food, although transport and shopping can be more limited than in major cities. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or an appropriate work permit before starting work. Employers often assist with documentation, accommodation and relocation, but arrangements vary. Candidates should confirm visa support, housing, medical coverage, service charge and contract terms before accepting an offer.
