Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, healthcare and professional services. The hospitality sector regularly recruits room attendants, wellness staff, front-office employees, chefs and supervisors, although competition can be high. Life is fast-paced and urban, with excellent public transport, international dining, shopping, hiking trails and beaches. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and major hotels; Mandarin is also useful. Most overseas employees need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer, and the role must meet immigration requirements regarding qualifications and salary. A valid offer, passport and supporting documents are normally required before relocation. Housing is expensive, so applicants should compare accommodation, transport and benefits carefully. Hong Kong has a subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and cooler winters.
