The Corporate Social Sustainability (CSR) Executive supports Shangri-La’s environmental, social and community initiatives. Requirements typically include a diploma or degree in sustainability, business, communications, hospitality or a related field, along with experience in CSR, ESG, project coordination, reporting or community engagement. Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder-management skills are expected. The successful candidate should be comfortable coordinating volunteering programmes, monitoring sustainability targets, preparing reports, supporting audits, managing partnerships and promoting responsible business practices across the hotel. Proficiency in English and common office software is likely required; knowledge of Malay and experience in hospitality or sustainability reporting would be advantageous. As this is a contract role, adaptability, initiative and the ability to deliver projects within deadlines are especially important.
Shangri-La Group is a major luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and related businesses across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its portfolio includes the Shangri-La, Traders, Kerry and JEN brands, with properties recognised for service, comfort and distinctive local experiences. In Malaysia, Shangri-La operates well-known hotels and resorts in destinations including Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Sabah. The company places strong emphasis on guest care, colleague development and responsible business, including environmental protection, community partnerships and social impact programmes. A CSR Executive may therefore work with hotel departments, local communities, suppliers, non-governmental organisations and corporate leaders to support sustainability goals. Working for Shangri-La generally offers exposure to a structured international hospitality environment, although responsibilities and benefits vary according to the property and contract terms.
Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hospitality, tourism, sustainability, retail, technology and professional services, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Island locations such as Langkawi, Penang and parts of Sabah provide a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, outdoor activities and multicultural communities, but may have higher accommodation costs or fewer specialised services than major cities. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions; English is widely used in business, while Malay is the national language. International employees generally need an approved employment pass arranged by the sponsoring employer before starting work. The company normally manages immigration documentation, medical checks and related approvals. Candidates should confirm contract duration, accommodation, transport, insurance, tax treatment and relocation support. Malaysia has warm weather year-round, with monsoon conditions varying by coast, so practical clothing and healthcare planning are advisable.
