About the employer

Shangri-La is a major luxury hospitality group founded in Asia and recognised for its hotels, resorts and serviced residences across the world. The company operates properties in destinations including Indonesia, Southeast Asia, China, the Middle East and Europe. Shangri-La is known for personalised service, comfortable accommodation, destination dining and strong attention to guest experience. Its hotels typically provide restaurants, meeting facilities, leisure amenities and wellness services for both business and holiday travellers. Employees work in multicultural teams and are expected to demonstrate professionalism, warmth, discretion and consistent service standards. Depending on the property and employment package, benefits may include service charge, meals, uniforms, medical coverage, staff accommodation or transport, training and opportunities for internal promotion.

Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam and other resort islands, particularly in hotels, restaurants, tourism, wellness and events. Bali is the most international market, while Jakarta and other Java cities provide stronger corporate and management opportunities. Local culture values respect, politeness, community and religious diversity; workplace communication is often a mix of Bahasa Indonesia and English. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed beach communities, with relatively affordable food and transport but higher housing costs in popular tourist areas. Foreign workers normally require employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and stay visa; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm the employment contract, accommodation, medical cover, taxes and relocation support before accepting an offer. Climate is tropical, with wet and dry seasons.
