The Senior Corporate Counsel will provide practical legal advice across Shangri-La’s corporate, commercial, hotel operations, investments, contracts, compliance and governance matters. The role typically requires a Hong Kong legal qualification or equivalent common-law credentials, substantial post-qualification experience, and strong knowledge of commercial contracting, corporate transactions and regulatory requirements. Experience in an international hospitality, property or multinational business is advantageous. The successful candidate should be commercially minded, articulate and confident when advising senior stakeholders, negotiating with external parties and managing multiple matters across different jurisdictions. Strong judgment, attention to detail, integrity, communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multicultural environment are expected.
Shangri-La Group is a Hong Kong-based luxury hospitality company with hotels, resorts and serviced residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations. Founded in 1971, the group is known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and distinctive luxury properties operating under brands including Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, JEN by Shangri-La and Traders. Its business spans hotel ownership, management and investment, supported by corporate teams covering finance, legal, human resources, technology, commercial strategy and operations. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on guest experience, colleague development, responsible business and long-term relationships with owners and partners. A corporate legal role in Hong Kong would typically support the group’s regional and global activities, working with senior management and colleagues across multiple markets and legal systems.
Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in legal, finance, hospitality, property, technology, aviation and international business. Corporate counsel roles are concentrated in Central, Admiralty, Quarry Bay and Kowloon, with access to major law firms and multinational headquarters. The culture is fast-paced, international and highly professional, while Cantonese remains important in daily life; English is widely used in business. Lifestyle combines dense urban living, excellent public transport, global dining and shopping with beaches, hiking trails and nearby islands. Rents are high, so many professionals choose smaller apartments or live in areas such as Kowloon, the New Territories or Lantau. Foreign professionals generally require an employment visa sponsored by the hiring company, and employers normally assist with the application. Dependants may qualify for accompanying visas. Candidates should confirm qualification-recognition rules, tax treatment, housing costs and school arrangements before relocating.
