Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a Gulf federation comprising seven emirates, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah. Hospitality, tourism, events, retail, aviation, construction, technology and marine services offer substantial employment opportunities. The culture combines Emirati traditions, Islamic customs and a highly international workforce; respectful dress and behaviour are important, especially during Ramadan. Lifestyle is modern and convenient, with excellent shopping, dining, beaches, desert activities and public transport, although summers are extremely hot. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored residence and work visa, with medical testing and Emirates ID registration. Employers often arrange entry permits and may provide accommodation, transport, insurance and flights. Before relocating, confirm the written contract, salary, working hours, housing arrangements, probation terms and visa sponsorship. Costs are highest in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
