Its properties are known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and comprehensive guest facilities, including restaurants, spas, recreation areas and residential accommodation. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on colleague development, operational excellence, guest safety and responsible business practices. In Indonesia, the group has operated well-known luxury properties serving leisure, business and residential guests. A Fire Life Safety Coordinator would work within a collaborative hotel or residence environment, partnering with engineering, security, housekeeping and management teams to protect residents, guests and colleagues while maintaining compliance with company policies and Indonesian safety requirements.

Working in Indonesia

Indonesia offers opportunities in luxury hotels, resorts, property management, engineering, security and safety, especially in Bali, Java, Lombok and the Riau Islands. Bali is the most internationally oriented destination, with a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, outdoor activities and a diverse expatriate community, although housing and traffic can be costly in popular areas. Indonesian culture values hospitality, respect for hierarchy, modest dress and community relationships; learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly beneficial. Foreign employees generally need employer sponsorship, an approved work permit and a limited-stay KITAS, with immigration and employment formalities arranged before starting work. Employers may provide accommodation, meals, transport, medical cover or service charge, but these benefits should be confirmed in writing. Costs vary considerably by island, and newcomers should budget for deposits, health insurance and local transport.
