Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, multicultural island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, marketing, finance, technology, healthcare, and international business. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is modern, efficient, and diverse, with excellent public transport, safe neighbourhoods, shopping, museums, green spaces, and a celebrated food scene. Housing and daily expenses can be high, especially in central areas, so accommodation and transport costs should be considered carefully. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, with eligibility depending on salary, qualifications, experience, and government assessment. Employers usually support the application, but approval is not automatic. New arrivals should arrange suitable housing, healthcare coverage, banking, and tax registration, and should check current requirements with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower before relocating.
