Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers varied relocation choices, from urban Kuala Lumpur to island destinations such as Penang, Langkawi, Tioman and parts of Sabah and Sarawak. Hospitality, IT, engineering, finance, food and beverage, tourism and retail provide regular employment opportunities, particularly in major cities and resort areas. Local culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions, with Islam as the official religion and English widely used in business and tourism. Lifestyle costs are moderate, although island resorts can have higher housing and transport costs. Public transport is strongest in cities; island living may require ferries, flights or private transport. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass arranged before starting work. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, medical coverage, tax obligations and contract terms. A valid passport, authenticated qualifications and relevant work experience may be required.
