The Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning and servicing guest rooms, bathrooms, corridors and related areas to Shangri-La’s standards. Duties include making beds, replacing linens and amenities, replenishing supplies, reporting maintenance issues, respecting guest privacy and handling lost property correctly. Candidates should be physically fit, detail-oriented, reliable and able to work efficiently with minimal supervision. Previous hotel housekeeping experience is preferred, although suitable applicants may receive training. Good communication skills, a polite service attitude and the ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays are expected. Cantonese, English or Mandarin skills may be useful in Hong Kong’s multicultural hotel environment.
Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Asia and known for its hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The group operates under a strong service philosophy centred on warm Asian hospitality, personalised guest care and high-quality accommodation, dining and wellness experiences. Shangri-La hotels commonly provide structured training, employee benefits and opportunities for career progression across departments and properties. In Hong Kong, the company is associated with premium city hotels serving business travellers, leisure guests, groups and long-stay residents. Employees are generally expected to maintain polished professional standards, teamwork, discretion and consistent attention to detail. Exact benefits, service-charge arrangements and employment conditions depend on the individual property and employment contract.
Hong Kong is a compact, highly international city with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, logistics and tourism. Hospitality work is concentrated on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and major resort areas, with room attendants and other hotel staff in steady demand. The culture combines Cantonese traditions, international influences, efficient public transport and a fast-paced working style. Lifestyle is convenient but accommodation can be expensive, so many employees share housing or live in outlying districts. Employers normally arrange or support an employment visa for eligible overseas hires; applicants need a confirmed job offer, relevant qualifications or experience and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Check current Immigration Department rules before relocating. Hong Kong has excellent healthcare, shopping, hiking and dining, while typhoons and humid summers are part of everyday life.
