Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and other resort destinations. Langkawi and Penang are popular island locations, while Sabah provides access to coastal resorts and marine tourism. Jobs are available in hotels, restaurants, wellness centres, tourism operations and food safety departments. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions, with English commonly used in the hospitality industry. Lifestyle varies from busy city living to relaxed beach communities; costs are generally moderate, though resort islands can be more expensive. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company normally handles much of the application process. Candidates should secure a written offer, confirm accommodation and benefits, check passport validity and arrange health insurance before relocating. Weather is tropical, hot and humid year-round, with seasonal monsoon rainfall depending on the region.
