The Front Office Executive welcomes guests, manages check-in and check-out, handles reservations and billing enquiries, coordinates with housekeeping and other departments, and responds professionally to guest requests or complaints. Candidates should have hospitality or customer-service experience, good English communication skills, a pleasant appearance, basic computer knowledge, and strong attention to detail. Knowledge of hotel property-management systems and additional languages is advantageous. The role requires flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays, along with a guest-focused attitude, confidence, patience and the ability to remain calm in a busy environment. Previous experience in a luxury hotel is preferred, while a relevant hospitality qualification may be an advantage.
Shangri-La Group is a leading luxury hospitality company headquartered in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its properties are known for warm Asian hospitality, high service standards and refined guest experiences. In Malaysia, Shangri-La operates well-established hotels and resorts in destinations including Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kota Kinabalu and other major tourism locations. The group offers careers across hotel operations, food and beverage, culinary services, housekeeping, guest relations, sales and corporate functions. Employees typically work in multicultural teams and receive exposure to international service practices, structured training and opportunities for career progression. As a Front Office Executive, the successful candidate would represent the brand directly to guests and contribute significantly to satisfaction, loyalty and the smooth daily operation of the hotel.
Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail, technology and shared-service operations. Popular island and coastal destinations include Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Perhentian, Redang and parts of Sabah and Sarawak. Langkawi is especially suitable for resort careers, with a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, outdoor activities and a strong international tourism community. Penang combines heritage, excellent food and urban convenience, while Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest employment market. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; English is widely used in hospitality. Living costs are moderate, though island accommodation and transport can be higher. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and should confirm eligibility, medical requirements and documentation before moving. Employers may assist with permits, accommodation, meals or relocation, but benefits vary. Public transport is better on the mainland than on smaller islands.
