Candidates should have several years of experience in restaurant reservations, front office, guest relations or hospitality operations, preferably within a luxury hotel or international brand. Strong communication, organisation and customer-service skills are essential, along with confidence using reservation and hotel systems. The role requires coordinating closely with restaurant teams, managing special requests, monitoring availability, reducing no-shows and supporting revenue opportunities. The successful candidate is expected to be professional, attentive to detail, commercially aware and comfortable working shifts, weekends and public holidays. Fluency in English is generally required; additional languages and Malaysian hospitality experience are advantageous.

Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other resort destinations. Roles are available in hotels, restaurants, resorts, events, tourism and guest services, with stronger seasonal demand in island locations. The culture is multicultural, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, and English is widely used in tourism workplaces. Lifestyle ranges from busy city living to relaxed coastal communities, with affordable food, tropical weather and easy access to beaches and nature. Langkawi and Penang are popular island choices, although Malaysia also has many smaller islands. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, while Malaysian citizens need no work visa. Employers normally handle approval procedures, but requirements vary by nationality and role. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, insurance, transport and relocation support before accepting an offer.
