Its portfolio includes the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands, with a reputation for personalised service, distinctive Asian hospitality and high-quality facilities. Shangri-La Hong Kong is an established luxury hotel serving business and leisure travellers, with extensive dining, guest accommodation, meetings and events facilities. The company places strong emphasis on service excellence, operational standards, employee development, sustainability and maintaining safe, well-managed properties. Engineering leaders play an important role in protecting the hotel’s assets, supporting uninterrupted operations, managing energy use and ensuring that guests and colleagues experience a comfortable and secure environment.

Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, engineering, finance, technology, retail and professional services. Its international hotel sector provides career paths for experienced facilities and engineering managers, particularly those with luxury-property, compliance and sustainability expertise. Life is fast-paced and highly urban, combining dense neighbourhoods, excellent public transport, international dining and shopping with beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hotels. Overseas professionals normally need an employment visa sponsored by an eligible employer; applications generally require a confirmed job, relevant qualifications and proof that the role cannot easily be filled locally. Employers often assist with visa processing, housing advice and relocation. Rent can be expensive, especially on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon, so candidates should review accommodation, medical coverage, tax, working hours and benefits carefully before relocating.
