Working in Philippines

The Philippines is an archipelago with varied opportunities in Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, and other tourism centers. Hotel and resort jobs are common in housekeeping, food and beverage, engineering, front office, wellness, and management, particularly in major cities and beach destinations. Filipino culture is welcoming, family-oriented, and strongly influenced by regional traditions, Christianity, and a history of international connections. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed island communities, with warm weather, affordable local food, beaches, and active social life. Foreign hires normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and an appropriate visa; requirements can include a labor-market approval, immigration documents, medical checks, and a valid contract. Relocating employees should confirm accommodation, tax, health insurance, transport, and work-permit costs with Shangri-La before accepting an offer. English is widely used in hotels and business, making workplace communication relatively accessible.
