The Family Experience Host creates memorable, safe and engaging experiences for children and families at Shangri-La in Hong Kong. Responsibilities may include welcoming families, organising children’s activities, explaining facilities, supporting family programmes and coordinating with Food and Beverage, Recreation and Guest Relations teams. Candidates should have hospitality, childcare, recreation or customer-service experience, excellent communication skills and a warm, energetic personality. Fluency in English is generally expected; Cantonese and Mandarin are valuable. The role requires patience, creativity, strong safety awareness, professional presentation and the ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays. A genuine interest in children, families and luxury service is essential.
Shangri-La Group is a leading luxury hospitality company founded in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other markets. Its brands are known for warm Asian hospitality, personalised service and high standards in accommodation, dining, wellness and events. Shangri-La’s Hong Kong properties serve international travellers, business guests, local residents and families, offering extensive restaurants, meeting facilities and recreational experiences. The company places strong emphasis on service culture, employee development, guest satisfaction and responsible business practices. Working for Shangri-La can provide exposure to an international hotel environment, structured training and opportunities to progress across hospitality departments and global properties.
Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, education and international business. Although commonly associated with Hong Kong Island, the territory also includes Kowloon and the New Territories, with excellent public transport connecting major districts. The culture blends Cantonese traditions, international influences, festivals, shopping and a highly active food scene. Lifestyle is fast-paced and convenient, with dense urban neighbourhoods alongside beaches, hiking trails and country parks. Rent can be high, particularly on Hong Kong Island, so many employees share accommodation or live in Kowloon or the New Territories. Foreign professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, while eligibility depends on qualifications, experience and the job offer. The employer normally assists with documentation, but candidates should confirm visa, insurance, accommodation and relocation details before accepting an offer.
