The Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning and preparing guest rooms, bathrooms, corridors and related areas to Shangri-La standards. Duties include changing linens, replenishing amenities, reporting maintenance issues, following hygiene and safety procedures, and responding courteously to guest requests. Candidates should be physically fit, detail-oriented, reliable and comfortable working on their feet for extended periods. Previous hotel housekeeping or cleaning experience is preferred, although suitable applicants may receive training. Good customer-service skills, a positive attitude and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are expected. Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays is essential. Basic English or Cantonese communication skills would be useful in Hong Kong.
Shangri-La Group is a luxury hospitality company founded in Asia and known for its hotels, resorts and exceptional guest service. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations under the Shangri-La, Kerry Hotels, JEN by Shangri-La and Traders brands. Shangri-La hotels typically emphasize warm Asian hospitality, high service standards, refined accommodation, dining and wellness facilities. In Hong Kong, the company has a strong presence and offers career opportunities in rooms, food and beverage, culinary operations, engineering, guest services and corporate functions. Employees may benefit from structured training, internal development opportunities, staff accommodation or meals depending on the property, and hotel-industry benefits. The working environment is professional and service-focused, with strong expectations for grooming, teamwork, guest care and consistency.
Hong Kong is a compact, energetic destination with strong employment opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, technology, logistics and international business. Its hospitality sector is supported by luxury hotels, conventions, shopping and tourism, although competition for jobs can be high. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in hotels and international workplaces; Mandarin is also useful. Life is fast-paced, highly connected and generally safe, with excellent public transport, diverse food, hiking trails, beaches and busy urban districts. Rental housing can be expensive, so applicants should confirm accommodation, meals, transport support and service-charge arrangements before relocating. Foreign nationals normally need an approved employment visa sponsored by an employer before starting work. Employers usually require a valid passport, employment contract and relevant qualifications or experience. Hong Kong has a subtropical climate, with hot, humid summers and milder winters.
