Working in Hong Kong

Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected city with major opportunities in hotels, restaurants, retail, finance, logistics, technology and professional services. Its culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences; Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in business and hospitality. Life is energetic and convenient, with excellent public transport, dense urban neighbourhoods, hiking trails, beaches and diverse dining. Housing is expensive, so many newcomers share apartments or live in areas connected by MTR lines. Overseas employees generally need an employer-sponsored work visa before starting employment, and the role must meet immigration requirements. Employers commonly assist with documentation, but candidates should confirm visa sponsorship, accommodation, medical coverage and service-charge arrangements. Hong Kong has a fast-paced working culture, humid summers and a relatively high cost of living, balanced by strong infrastructure and broad career exposure.
