Working in Australia

Australia offers opportunities in banking, technology, healthcare, construction, education, professional services, logistics, hospitality and renewable energy. Major employment centres include Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, with salaries and housing costs varying considerably. Australian workplace culture is generally direct, collaborative and relatively informal, with strong expectations around punctuality, safety, inclusion and work-life balance. Lifestyle options range from vibrant cities and cultural events to beaches, national parks and outdoor sports. Skilled migrants may need an employer-sponsored, skilled, state-nominated or other eligible visa; requirements depend on occupation, qualifications, English ability and experience. Research skills lists and seek official advice before relocating. New arrivals should budget carefully for rent, healthcare, transport and utilities, and arrange tax, banking and accommodation. Australia is both a country and an island continent, with significant travel distances between cities.
