The Resilience Lead will help Barclays strengthen operational and technology resilience across critical services. Responsibilities typically include identifying and assessing risks, maintaining resilience frameworks, coordinating business continuity and disaster recovery planning, supporting scenario testing, tracking remediation actions, and communicating with senior stakeholders and regulators. Candidates are expected to have experience in operational resilience, business continuity, technology risk, or related financial-services disciplines. Strong understanding of regulatory expectations, risk governance, incident management, and control frameworks is important, together with excellent analytical, communication, influencing, and project-management skills. Experience working across complex organisations and managing competing priorities would be advantageous.
Barclays is a major UK-based financial services group with operations spanning retail and business banking, corporate and investment banking, wealth management, and private banking. Founded in 1690, it serves individual customers, businesses, institutions, and governments in the UK and international markets. The company employs tens of thousands of people and operates through well-known brands including Barclays and Barclays Private Bank. Its work covers lending, payments, savings, investments, capital markets, financial advice, and digital banking. Barclays places significant emphasis on responsible banking, regulatory compliance, technology, cyber security, operational resilience, and inclusive working practices. The Knutsford area is an important UK location for Barclays technology, operations, and specialist support functions.
The United Kingdom offers strong opportunities in banking, technology, risk, compliance, consulting, healthcare, engineering, education, and professional services. London has the largest financial sector, while Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, Leeds, and the North West also provide substantial employment. British workplace culture generally values punctuality, professionalism, clear communication, teamwork, and respect for personal boundaries. Lifestyle varies from busy city living to quieter coastal and rural communities, with good public transport, healthcare, schools, and cultural activities, although housing can be expensive. Most overseas workers need a visa, commonly the Skilled Worker visa, requiring an eligible role, an approved sponsor, and compliance with salary and English-language rules. Applicants should check current UK government requirements and Barclays sponsorship policy. Knutsford offers a more relaxed setting near Manchester, with access to countryside, transport links, and regional employment centres.
