Previous experience in concierge, guest relations, front office, luxury hospitality, or a similar customer-service role is usually preferred. Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and holidays is also expected.
Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts is a leading luxury hospitality company operating hotels, resorts, and private residences in destinations around the world. The brand is recognized for highly personalized service, elegant properties, strong attention to detail, and a people-focused workplace culture. Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto combines contemporary luxury with traditional Japanese design and hospitality, offering views, gardens, restaurants, spa facilities, and access to Kyoto’s cultural attractions. Employees are generally expected to create genuine connections with guests, work collaboratively across departments, and uphold consistently high service standards. Benefits and employment conditions vary by position and local regulations, but may include staff meals, training, uniforms, accommodation assistance, transportation support, and hotel discounts.
Japan offers hospitality, tourism, technology, education, healthcare, manufacturing, and service-sector opportunities, especially in cities such as Kyoto, Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka. Kyoto has a calm, historic lifestyle, excellent public transport, seasonal festivals, temples, traditional cuisine, and a strong international tourism industry. Japanese workplace culture values punctuality, respect, teamwork, presentation, and careful attention to detail. Living costs are generally lower than Tokyo but housing and daily expenses can still be significant. Foreign nationals normally need a work-appropriate residence status before starting employment; hospitality roles may require employer sponsorship and proof of qualifications, experience, or language ability. Candidates should confirm visa eligibility, contract terms, tax, insurance, and relocation support directly with the employer. Learning Japanese is highly beneficial for daily life and career progression.
